Doxey Marshes U3A Birdwatching Trip

Monday 22nd October 10am Sainsbury’s Short Stay Car Park

The next U3A birdwatching trip is on Monday 22nd October at Doxey Marshes.

Due to the closure of the car park at Wootton Drive, the main meeting place will be Sainsbury’s Short Stay Car Park off the Doxey Road at 10am. After entering the Sainsbury’s parking area and passing under the height restriction bar turn left at the small roundabout and head over to the parking bays beside the River Sow. The Pay and Display charges are £1.60 for 2 hours, £2.50 for 3 hours and £3.00 for 4 hours. If you subsequently spend £5.00 or more in Sainsbury’s there is a refund of £1.60.

From the Sainsbury’s Car Park it takes 10 minutes of brisk walking along a slightly uneven path by the river to reach the Cemetery near to the Range and Dunelm car parks. From there we will head into Doxey by the Memorial Pyramid. Should you prefer to meet us at the main bird hide, I estimate we will be there around 10.20 to 10.30am. Please be aware of the following notice displayed at the Range.

The paths on Doxey were good and not water logged when I visited today.

The weather forecast is currently ok for Monday. Should it change, look out for an email on Sunday night or Monday morning to confirm the visit is still going ahead.
