Join a thriving community

The West Birmingham branch formed in the spring of 2026 with the aim of helping people to better enjoy, understand and conserve birdlife.

The branch committee draws on their own range of experiences and abilities to offer a varied programme of indoor meetings and organised walks in the region.  We are a welcoming and inclusive group of people, hoping to further grow the branch and its activities with your support!

Not a member, not a problem!  Please come along and enjoy the evening or trip, you will be most welcome.

About the West Birmingham Branch

The West Birmingham branch aims to bring together birdwatchers of all ages and abilities to explore, celebrate and look after the regions’ birdlife.  Based in Birmingham, we will be visiting a range of different reserves and habitats in the West Midlands.

Meetings and Events

Our wider branch area offers excellent locations for regular guided bird walks.  These are usually free to attend, although some sites attract a small entrance fee if you are not a member e.g. Wildlife Trust venues.

These walks are led by ourselves and/or local experts, and generally last between 2-4 hours.  We take our time to ensure the birds and other wildlife can be enjoyed by all, and will finish the walk at a café or rest stop where they are available.

If you would like to learn more about birdlife, meet other birders or make new friends, please consider joining us on one of our guided walks.  Details of walks can be found on the Club’s website, Facebook page and will also be sent out to members by email if you are signed up to receive them.

We will in due course be hosting indoor meetings, offering talks and activities that will inform and enrich your birdwatching experience.  Watch this space for further updates.

Get Involved!

Stay informed about our events through the Club Newsletter, emails, the website, and social media.  Whether you’re looking to learn, explore, or contribute to conservation, the WMBC West Birmingham branch has something for you.

Help us Grow the WMBC Network

We’re looking to expand our network of local branches.

If you’re interested in setting up a new branch in your area we’d love to hear from you.

These groups made a huge contribution to our community before pausing due to changes in local organisation. With the right people involved, we know they could flourish once again. If you have some time, ideas, or just want to know what’s involved, please get in touch, by emailing our secretary, Don Ainsworth at secretary@westmidlandbirdclub.org.uk.

We’ll support you every step of the way.
