Whitemoor Haye

Evening all…and happy new year!

I appreciate it’s not a WMBC site, but I wondered if anyone had any advice for visiting Whitemoor Haye, please?

My son wants to visit before he goes back to school, but I can’t figure out the parking / access…can anyone help, please?

Many thanks 😊

It appears that nobody responded to you regarding this post.

Access to to area is via public footpath, via the island on the A513. Most pits are viewable from the road that winds around the area. There is a closed off track by the first bend with a little room for parking and there is a circular walk from there if you want.

Tawny Owls

We have always had Tawny Owls in our village but this autumn and winter we have noticed a very significant increase in the frequency of day-time calling - including in the middle of the morning. Can anyone offer an explanation? We suspect there has been a population increase but have no proof.

Seems plausible Don, especially as I am only hearing male birds. And as it is the first time it has happened perhaps it is because of an increase in the population
