A reminder of our code of conduct

To help protect the birds we all enjoy, we ask everyone to follow the West Midland Bird Club's Code of Conduct and Ethical Bird Photography Guidelines.

Exercise caution before sharing sightings of rare, persecuted, locally scarce birds and birds listed in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act, especially during the breeding season.  Please never publicly share nest locations, as this information could unintentionally put birds at risk from disturbance or harm.  If you're ever unsure, please consult the County Bird Recorder.

To help safeguard these species, we ask that:

Photos or locations of juvenile Schedule 1 birds are not posted.

Photos of rare, persecuted or locally scarce adult birds should only be shared if they were taken well away from the nest site, and the location should remain non-specific.

Please avoid posting photos of schedule 1 and other rare, persecuted or locally scarce birds if you've recently shared where you're planning to birdwatch, as this could unintentionally reveal the location.

Thank you so much for helping us protect the birds we all love. If you're ever unsure whether it's appropriate to post something, please send a DM to us and we will offer some clarity.
