Belvide Habitat and Reserve Maintenance
Will you join us?

Will you join us?
As the Belvide Representative I am constantly delighted by the praise received for the condition of the reserve however those of you who have recently joined our club may not be aware that although the Canal and River Trust own most of site at Belvide with WMBC owning just the woodland ALL habitat maintenance at Belvide is planned and carried out by the Team and volunteers who are all club members.
Much of the work is dictated by the SSSI citation so is not only desirable but legally required so can’t be left. The volume of work is always considerable but the low water levels this year means growth of vegetation in areas usually under water has added greatly to this.
We have a great group of members who turn up to sessions regularly but if we are to achieve our ambition of keeping Belvide as possibly the best reserve in Staffordshire we need new blood so will you join us?
Sessions take place on Sunday mornings and are fun and sociable with Nigel, our work party manager, dividing those who turn up into teams depending on the work to be done. Nigel is a past master at finding just the right job for everyone so please don’t think you can’t help because everyone can, regardless of age, experience or physical ability.
Work obviously has to take place outside the breeding season so our work parties are organised for Sunday mornings between mid October and February, see dates below. If you can manage a session no need to let anyone know, just turn up and leave the rest to Nigel.
Belvide Work Party Dates 2025/26
Sunday mornings on
19th and 26th October 16th and 30th November 14th and 21st December
11th and 25th January and 8th and 15th February
All gloves and tools will be provided but please feel free to bring your own
Everyone welcome!
Meet on the Belvide car park at 9.30am
